Established in 1864, the oldest cricket stadium in India, also called as the Mecca of Indian Cricket. It is the home venue of the Bengal cricket team and the IPL franchise cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders, and is also a venue for Test, ODI and T20I matches of the India national cricket team. The stadium currently has a capacity of 66,000. The ground has been referred to as "cricket's answer to the Colosseum," and is widely acknowledged to be one of the most iconic cricket stadiums in the world.

Royal Calcutta Golf Club13.5 KM

The first golf club in the world outside Great Britain. It was established in 1829 and is the oldest golf club in India. RCGC has an 18-hole golf course. King George V and Queen Mary conferred the title "Royal" to the Club to commemorate their visit to Calcutta in 1911. Apart from golf, it offers tennis courts and a fine swimming pool. The Club also maintains a Lawn Bowls Pavilion in the Kolkata Maidan.

Calcutta Race Course11.9 KM

One of the largest race courses in the country built in the year 1820 and is maintained by the Royal Calcutta Turf Club. The racing season is from July to September and November to March. The races are usually held on Saturdays, and also on other public holidays. There is also a huge polo ground just adjacent to the race course which is considered to be the best in the country. Like other heritage landmarks of Kolkata, the racecourse too, plays a perfect reminder to the colonial era and opulence of the bygone times.

Salt Lake Stadium2.1 KM

Witness one of the fiercest 100 years old rivalry in football match between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal at Yuba Bharati Krirangan- Salt Lake Stadium. This derby features in the FIFA's classic derby list. The matches witness large audience attendance and rivalry between patrons. It is considered to be one of, if not the biggest Asian footballing rivalry. The two clubs currently meet at least 3 times a year, twice in the I-League and once in the Calcutta Football League. Both teams have huge and dedicated fan bases around the world. Both clubs represent a specific class of Bengali people, Mohun Bagan represents people existing in the western part of Bengal, while East Bengal is primarily supported by people hailing from the eastern part of pre-independence Bengal province. This stadium is also the home of Athletico de Kolkata of Indian Super League.

Academy of fine arts9.4 KM

Founded in 1933 by Lady Ranu Mukherjee, it is one of the oldest fine arts societies in the country and a must-visit spot for all. It consists of an art gallery and a museum. The museum on the first floor has a priceless collection of objects des arts. The items on display include rare paintings by famous artists such as Rabindranath Tagore and Jamini Roy. A hotbed for theatre groups, both budding and professional, the Academy is the focal point of all-star names and the biggest theatre stalwarts have graced the Academy with stellar performances.

Birla Planetarium9.2 KM

Opened as Asia’s first and the Commonwealth’s second planetarium, the Birla Planetarium now boasts of a Carl-Zeiss hybrid projection system with opto-mechanical projector that is capable of simulating the night sky accurately. Regular astronomical shows are presented with commentaries in English, Hindi and Bengali. They have 9 state-of-the-art, full dome high-resolution digital projectors to create an immersive impression of the cosmos, an attractive exhibition gallery, an information circular corridor, a souvenir shop (called Astro Corner) and lots of new stuff. The central hall is air-conditioned and can accommodate 500 spectators at a time.

Built in the Italian Renaissance style, this was formerly the residence of the British Viceroy. Established in 1936, it is now the biggest library in India, it boasts of a collection of more than 21,00,000 books including digitised books, maps, periodicals, manuscripts etc. The best part is that membership here is free of cost. There is a Rare Books Section and a Foreign Language Books Section.

A traditional potters’quarter in northern Kolkata. The city is renowned for its sculpting prowess, which not only manufactures clay idols for various festivals but also regularly exports them. In the lead up to Durga Puja (one of the largest festival in India), thousands of artisans toil diligently in about 550 workshops to complete the statues of Durga and her four children in time for the festival. Howrah Bridge – Rabindra Setu8.6 KM

Opened in 1943, this 2,590-metric-ton bridge, constructed of high tensile steel, is one of the busiest bridges in the world. Apart from the stormy weather of the Bay of Bengal region, it successfully bears the weight of daily traffic of approximately 80,000 vehicles and, possibly, more than 1,000,000 pedestrians. You can get a boat or a ferry, particularly in the evenings — the view is beautiful when the bridge is lit up. You can now party under the bridge as various Cruises lets you hire a boat for the entire night during which the cruise will pass under the bridge twice.

Second Hooghly Bridge – Vidyasagar Setu13 KM

Vidyasagar Setu, also known as the Second Hooghly Bridge, is a bridge over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. It links the city of Howrah to its twin city of Kolkata. The design for the bridge was laid down by a German Structuring and Consulting firm, Schlaich Bergermann & Partner. LED lamps and an electronic toll collection system was also scheduled to help with the traffic flow across the bridge.

Victoria Memorial8.9 KM

The Victoria Memorial is the most impressive reminder of the British Raj to be found in India. Commissioned by Lord Curzon, the then Viceroy of India, the white beauty gets its name since it was designed to commemorate the demise of Queen Victoria back in 1901. Located right under the southeast end of the Howrah bridge, the market runs along the riverside. This market is an amazing sensory experience. Prinsep Ghat10.5 KM

A ghat built in 1841 during the British Raj, along the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River in India. The Palladian porch in the memory of the eminent Anglo-Indian scholar and antiquary James Prinsep was designed by W. Fitzgerald and constructed in 1843. The monument to Prinsep is rich in Greek and Gothic inlays and one of the oldest recreational spots of Kolkata. It has illuminated and landscaped gardens and pathways, fountains, and renovated ghats. There is also a railway station named after the same along with a jetty nearby called the Man-O-War jetty that belongs to the Kolkata Port Trust and commemorates the role played by the port in the Second World War.

St. Paul's Cathedral9.2 KM

Cathedral of Anglican background in Kolkata, noted for its Gothic architecture, is the seat of the Diocese of Calcutta. The cornerstone was laid in 1839; the building was completed in 1847. It is said to be the largest cathedral in Kolkata and the first Episcopal Church in Asia. It was also the first cathedral built in the overseas territory of the British Empire. The edifice stands on Cathedral Road on the "island of attractions" to provide for more space for the growing population of the European community in Calcutta in the 1800s.

Indian Botanical Garden16 KM

The garden was originally founded in 1786 by Colonel Kyd and contains about 12,000 living plants and over 2.5 million dried plant specimens in the herbarium that have been collected from all over the world. This is the oldest of all the botanical gardens in India. The great banyan tree at the Botanical Gardens is around 255 years old and is considered to be the oldest citizen of the city. Covering about 14,500 sq. m of land, it is the widest tree in the world. The Great Banyan has been in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest canopy and covering the widest circumference.
